Egg Hunt
A coffee break dungeon crawler made for the Dungeon Crawler Jam 2026. A single run takes about 10 minutes max. The dungeon is procedurally generated so each attempt will be somewhat different.
You play a new adventurer who has been sent on their first quest. Your goal is to find a dragon egg. An npc at the start will point you at some starter gear, but you'll also need to use items you find in the dungeon to survive.
Controls
QEWASD, or numpad equivalent to move and turn. There's a settings menu to switch the QE / AD turn button scheme.
Space or period will skip a turn.
Mouse to drag items into inventory and equip and use them.
Notes
Your backpack only has four item slots which is insufficient for all the items you will find. Part of the challenge is to decide what to take and what to leave behind.
The combat system is simple with the player and creatures doing damage from a random range, such as 3-5 damage. The player has a % chance to dodge the full attack. Armor works like tossing coins. For each point of armor a coin is tossed, if it lands heads then 1 point of incoming damage is blocked. So amount of armor guarantees blocking all damage, it just reduces the chance a lot.
I barely made the deadline so a lot of polish is missing, including the cover image which was a hastily taken random screenshot.
Known bugs
- I did encounter a bug where the player gets stuck in move animation and has to restart the game. I couldn't reproduce it. I think it happens if you double tap to open a closed door then immediately walk through it in rapid succession.
- The tomb key item only spawns on the first game. If the player loses and restarts the item does not spawn again. F5 restart is the only way to fix this. It isn't a critical item.
- the fireball scroll does 5 damage to the target, but doesn't kill them! requires a melee hit to then finish them off
